BRRAddicts was formed in 2005 when a lovely Master’s student posed a bookstore manager a question.

" Where can we host a reader's group?" ... " I guess, you can use my lounge room" ... " Great! " ...

And so Brisbane Romance Reading Addicts was born, the result of a friendship between Kate Cuthbert (the Master’s student) and Elle Gardner (lounge room donator), and their desire to talk about Romance Fiction with others than themselves.

... Okay, in reality, we needed people to

• arbitrate our somewhat heated discussions, (Somewhat Heated!?!)

• listen to us as we waxed poetic over our favourite authors, (endure the sound of our own voices, more like.)

• convert to subgenres or authors they might not try otherwise, (we needed fellow sufferers! Duh! You have to SHARE the disease!)

• introduce us to new authors or books we might not have tried, (Books! Bring on the Books! Death by Books!)

• have wild, intense, hilarious discussions on all aspects of romance fiction from alpha heroes to zero tolerance for facial hair. (Yeah, she's pretty much on the money with wild and intense discussions. Things can be thrown.)

So, we gathered together some fellow addictees and brought them all together for a ghoulish Halloween party in October 2005, complete with green smoking punch, floating spider ice cubes, haunted house sound effects, and all our favourite Paranormal books and authors.

Since then we have met every second month in someone's lounge room for a different themed meeting: Worst. Books. Evah., Hot Chocolate Reads, Favourite Heroines, Guilty Pleasures, and more!

Oh, and we're still friends too! And we have more friends! That's got to be a sign of success. Please join us.
